Hooker, Damian Varley has been called into the Irish Rugby World Cup squad as an injury replacement. Damian came to Souths in 2007 to develop his rugby and after beginning in 4th Grade, progressed to be Premier Grade hooker. Damian toured Australia and NZ in 2010 with the Irish squad and played against Australia in Brisbane.
So far in the 2011 RWC, players who developed their rugby at Souths have represented three nations, Quade Cooper (Australia); Luke McLean (Italy); Albert Vulivuli (Fiji) and now Damian Varley for Ireland.
We wish all of our current and former players success in their Rugby pursuits!
