Souths 1992 20 Year Reunion - 2nd June

All Players, Old Boys & Supporters are invited to join us to celebrate 20 years since Souths ‘Cleansweep’ wins in 1992 Grand Finals:
1st Grade Premiers 2nd Grade Premiers 3rd Grade Premiers 4th Grade Premiers Colts Premiers

Who: All current players, Old Boys, supporters and partners are invited.

When: June, 2nd 2012

Time: 6:30pm for 7pm

Where: The Fox Hotel

After another close game against University last week, Souths need the win this week to stake their claim in the Top 4 this season.

Get out to Crosby Road, Albion and cheer the mighty Magpies against traditional rivals, the Filth, in Queensland Premier Rugby Round Four.

Pegg Cup vs Beenleigh - Chipsy Wood Oval

Its likely to be a tough encounter when Souths' Pegg Cup side take on last years Cup winners, the Beenliegh Bears at the Nest on Saturday afternoon.

The winless Normanby Cup side will be looking to improve on last Friday's defeat at the hands of the Filth when they host the Easts Longhorns at the Nest.

Kick-off is at 7 pm.

It was twenty years ago today...

1992 was significant year in many respects: Presidents Bush (Snr) and Yeltsin called an end to the Cold War; the European Union was founded; Bill Clinton was elected as the next President of the United States; the Summer Olympics were held in Barcelona, Spain and Winter’s in Albertville, France; Shane Warne debuted for Australia; South Africa voted to end apartheid and were rewarded by the IRB with re-admission to the international rugby scene. In rugby union, several law changes were made to the lineout and breakdown and the value of a try became 5 points; the Wallabies on the back of winning the World Cup in ’91, won the Bledisloe Cup (2-1) and defeated Scotland, South Africa, Wales and Ireland; Queensland won the Super Six competition. 1992 was quite a significant year at Souths as well.
