2026 Training for U14-U16 will begin Wednesday 11 February 2026

2026 Muster Night and First Training for Mini-U13 Friday 13 February 2026

Wednesday Nights 6:00pm: U14 Boys, U14 Girls, U16 Girls and Junior Colts (Chipsy Wood) U15 and U16 (Shaftsbury).

Friday Nights 4:30pm: Modified Rugby (Chipsy Wood)

Friday Nights 5:30pm: Mini Magpies, U6, U7, U8, U9 (Chipsy Wood)

Friday Nights 6:30pm: U10, U11, U12, U13 (Chipsy Wood)

Our Junior players take part in the Brisbane Junior Rugby Competition (BJRU)

U6-U9 Age Groups play on a Saturday

Mini Magpies is available to players below U6 age group and is a developmental program run on Friday nights.

Additionally, we have a Junior Colts team for players aged U17 and U18. U16 Players will require a dispensation to play. The lightning series is a compressed comp which runs during term 1.

Our Modified Rugby Program is facilitated through a partnership with the GingerCloud Foundation. The MRP brings families and communities of neurodiverse young people together. Families that, would not have the chance to participate in team sport. This participation in sporting clubs allows families with disability to be included in the normal experiences that are accessible to everyone else. MRP will commence on early March.

Our Junior Rugby initiative fosters an enjoyable environment for kids keen on acquiring the sport, honing their abilities, and making new friends.

GIRLS RUGBY in 2026

Souths is growing our pathways and opportunities for girls in rugby. In 2026 we aim to have teams representing Souths in the BJRU competitions.

BJRU is committed to growing the game of rugby for girls and providing them with meaningful options to play. This includes:

offering a 6-week Emerging Development Program for all levels of female players aged 11 – 18 years.
offering both a girls XVs competition and 7s competitions.
supporting pathways for girls to play 2024 Representative Rugby for XVs and 7s.
supporting girls who wish to play mixed gender rugby in U6 -U12 Junior Rugby in accordance with the Rugby Australia gender eligibility requirements.

As noted in the Competition outlines above, all Girls’ competitions will be played in two year even age groups, ie Open (U18), U16, U14 and U12.
