Our Junior players take part in the Brisbane Junior Rugby Competition (BJRU)
U6, U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16

U6-U9 Age Groups play on a Saturday
U10-U16 Age Groups play on a Sunday

Additionally, we have a Junior Colts team for players aged U17 and U18. U16 Players will require a dispensation to play.

Our Junior Rugby initiative fosters an enjoyable environment for kids keen on acquiring the sport, honing their abilities, and making new friends.

GIRLS RUGBY

Information regarding the girls programs / competitions and formats for 2024.

Please note: Term 1 is for everyone, regardless of whether they want to play 7s or XV-a-side. All that’s required is Training Only registration in Rugby Xplorer. Please email the club if you are interested in joining.

BJRU is committed to growing the game of rugby for girls and providing them with meaningful options to play. This includes:

offering a 6-week Emerging Development Program for all levels of female players aged 11 – 18 years.
offering both a girls XVs competition and 7s competitions in 2024.
supporting pathways for girls to play 2024 Representative Rugby for XVs and 7s.
supporting girls who wish to play mixed gender rugby in U6 -U12 Junior Rugby in accordance with the Rugby Australia gender eligibility requirements.

As noted in the Competition outlines above, all Girls’ competitions in 2024 will be played in two year even age groups, ie Open (U18), U16, U14 and U12.

TERM 1 GIRLS EMERGING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM XVs COMPETITION (for all players regardless of skill or prior participation and interest in playing 7s or XVs).

During February to March, the BJRU will run an Emerging Development Program for female players aged between 11 and 18, to introduce and/or further develop their rugby fundamentals to maximise their potential for playing all versions of the game.

2024 Fees:

Mini Magpies (<5yrs): $75

5 - 16 years: TBC

Junior Colts (17 & 18 yrs) (Pre-season Lightning Comp): $200

Junior Colts (17 & 18 yrs) (main season): $430 (pre-season fees paid will reduce this to $230)

Modified Rugby Program Participants: $205

Girls 10s (12-14 yrs, Term 1): $TBC

Girls 15s (16-18yrs, Term 1): $TBC

Girls 7s (10-18yrs, Terms 2 & 3): $TBC (girls who registered in Term 1 will only pay $TBC)

Training Only: $25
